Braun high speed PRT1000 3 in 1 thermometer – Review

Braun high speed PRT1000 3 in 1 thermometer – Review

There’s nothing worse than your child being poorly. I’ve had many a sleepless night over the last few years with NOM, whether it be through teething or the never ending bugs she’s picked up. As a first time mum, I panicked at the slightest cough, sneeze and hiccup, but one thing I was always unsure of was the question “does she have a temperature?”

I was always reluctant to give NOM paracetamol/ibuprofen for anything other than reducing a high temperature and teething (NOM was a terrible teether!). Then we’d ask ourselves – does she have a high temperature? Sometimes it was obvious just from her rosey cheeks and the heat radiating off her, but at other times it was more obscure. That’s when the trusty thermometer came out…

I must admit, I didn’t think I’d use my thermometer as much as I did with NOM. I think because she was such a bad teether, she had many a bout of high temperatures. Therefore I’m expecting little man to be similar with his teething patterns. It’s lucky then that I’ve been given the chance to review the Braun High Speed PRT1000 thermometer as I have a feeling I’m going to need it when little man makes his appearance.

The Braun High speed PRT1000 3 in 1 digital stick thermometer allows for professional accuracy and is suitable for oral, underarm or rectal use.

Braun High Speed Thermometer

The Braun high speed thermometer is a simple yet effective device. It gives readings in approximately 10 seconds and you are able to use it to take readings from 3 different areas of the body; oral, underarm and rectal. It comes complete with simple to read instructions, as well as a protective cap to cover the measuring sensor. We tested the thermometer using the underarm method with NOM. I found the thermometer easy to grip and the flexible tip meant that movement of the thermometer was gentle on NOM’s skin, whilst not being too rigid for ease of use. A simple touch of a button switches the thermometer on with any readings being displayed in °c.

It took about 5 seconds for NOM’s reading to come up, with the thermometer beeping when ready. The thermometer display window is large enough to give a reading that can be read well and the thermometer itself will store this reading automatically for when it is used next. I think this is a great aspect of the design as if you are regularly checking anyone’s temperature, you can then see the previous reading to check if the person’s temperature is continuing to rise or fall.

using the thermometer

As you can use the thermometer in different areas of the body, it’s recommended that it is washed thoroughly after use. As the thermometer is waterproof, this can be done using commercial disinfectants but it should not be immersed in cleaning solutions for more than 24 hours. The Braun high speed thermometer can be bought from many high street and online retailers such as on Amazon and ASDA direct ranging from £12.99 to £9.99, making it good value for money and piece of mind.

Braun is a well known trusted name in electrical goods so I am confident in the accuracy and reliability of the thermometer. They do have a whole range of thermometers that have a wide range if different features in addition to the high speed thermometer. This product would be suitable for those who are wanting a simple yet effective device for taking the temperature of anyone with ease and simplicity but for an affordable price.

  1. We have an in ear thermometer as my little ones won’t put up with this type. It’s so reassuring to be able to get an accurate temperature though.

  2. Love the pic of your little one trying it out on her doll. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested

  3. We have this thermometer too – it’s great for keeping in the changing bag for peace of mind!
