Trying out #clothnappies for #realnappyweek

Trying out #clothnappies for #realnappyweek

Here at preschoolmum, we have been given the exciting opportunity to get involved with trying out cloth nappies in celebration of real nappy week that runs from Monday 28th April to Sunday 4th May. We have collaborated with the people from The Nappy Gurus and Fill Your Pants team, to take part in testing a variety of different brands of cloth nappies and training pants with NOM over the upcoming week. This is to support awareness in the ease in use of cloth nappies and how they have now evolved from the terry’s nappies that my mum used to use with my sister and I when we were babies.

We received our exciting cloth nappy package last weekend and I had a good root through them during the week.

I must admit that I was quite overwhelmed by the variety of items provided and certainly had no clue as to how and when to use them. That’s when the lovely Sarah from the nappy gurus team came to my rescue! We had a meeting over Skype and she went through each of the items in detail that I had been sent, explaining how to use them, when to use them and how best to clean them once soiled.

As I will be using my items with NOM (who is currently potty training), we will be testing a range of training pants during the day and some full cloth nappies for overnight. I will be doing a range of posts during real nappy week to explain the different items we are testing to discuss and demonstrate further how to use them and how we got on with them.

The items that we will be testing over the week will be:

1. The Bamboozle stretch cloth nappy by Tots Bots along with one of their easyfit prints and a pair of their training pants.

2. Training pant by Bright Bots.

3. Charlie Banana swim nappy/training pant and one of their lovely portable wash bags.

4. Bambino Mio miosolo cloth nappy and one of their training pants.

5. GroVia hybrid cloth nappy with their organic soaker pads.

I am looking forward to the challenge of testing out these cloth nappies and training pants with NOM, particularly because we are very much newbies when it comes to all things cloth. I have always used disposables for NOM as I was never confident in my knowledge of cloth nappies and wouldn’t have known even where to start looking.

This is why I have got involved in the real nappy week trial in order to help those who haven’t a clue where to start with cloth nappies, but would really like to try. It’s about making people aware of how these can be easily slotted into everyday family life as well as the benefits it has on both cost as well as the environment.

We will be starting our cloth nappy experience this weekend and I have prepared all the cloth nappies and training pants by washing them 3 times before use as this allows them to develop their absorbency in readiness to be used. I have had a full clothes line of cloth nappies drying on the line today ready for NOM to begin using them tomorrow.

There are a group of fabulous bloggers who are also taking part in the challenge and are in very much the same position as us in using cloth for the first time. 1. I wonder if using cloth will spur her on with her toilet training as she may feel more aware when she’s wet than she would have if was wearing a disposable?!
Look forward to reading more about how you get on x
